I am a DPhil student in the first cohort of Intelligent Earth CDT Students! I have a background in Mathematics and Earth Sciences, and a strong interest in the polar regions. During my Master's, I worked on using statistical and machine learning methods applied to Antarctic sea ice concentration, and was lucky enough to conduct glaciology fieldwork in Kangerlussuaq, West Greenland. I have completed internships at the British Antarctic Survey in the Ice Dynamics and Paleoclimate Team, and a NERC SCENARIO DTP funded position in mathematical modelling for evolutionary biology at Reading University.
I am focusing my DPhil on Antarctic ice shelf stability with Professor Laura Stevens in the Department of Earth Sciences. I highly encourage any students with interests in the cryosphere to apply for Intelligent Earth, as the applications of machine learning to glaciology are vast and present many opportunities and challenges.
